Wana Velvet ori 輪奈天鵞絨織
400 years ago, velvet which originally arrived from Portugal started being produced in Japan during the Edo period. The 輪奈織technique highly treasured by the aristocracy of medieval Europe was imported into Japan along with the trade with the west. Woven as if wrapping the metallic threads into the warp weave, the end product has a more three-dimentional finish than usual.
