Tatenishiki obi 経錦
田村屋蛍庵[Tamuraya Hotaruan] weavers from the Miyama district of Kyoto. Traditionally over 90% use the Nishijin weave which derives the patterns in the weft threads, but this obi uses a special technique where several coloured threads in the warp create the textile pattern. This takes about 3 times more effort and skill than a standard woven fabric. The pattern is double-sided.
