About 400 years ago near the Kyoto Imperial Palace, founder 松屋儀兵衛[Matsuyagihei] was granted access to the palace and thus established the kimono merchant house “Matsuya”. The weaving house has maintained the qualities of “Excitement / satisfaction / peace of mind” over its long history". Fostering many artists with great skills and craftsmanship, this famous house has made great contributions in the Kyoto Nishijin district.
